What
is the Mutual Ministry Committee?
The Mutual Ministry Committee is a team of congregation
members that meet to affirm the mission of the Congregation
and the ministry of the staff at First Lutheran Church.
They do this through sharing, listening, clarifying, communicating,
reviewing and reflecting upon the issues facing the congregation.
What
is the Role of Mutual Ministry?

Develop open communication within the congregation,
the community, and the staff

Identify early warning signs of misunderstandings
-
Be a “listening post” for members of the
congregation as well as the pastors and staff at First
Lutheran
-
Serve as group where congregation members, pastors,
and staff members can test out new ideas
-
Conduct annual performance reviews and affirmation of
staff
-
Support continuing education that benefits both the
staff and mission or the congregation.

Perform annual assessments of the working conditions,
compensation, and benefits provided for the pastors
and staff
How
does Mutual Ministry do this?
We do this by implementing a communications plan that
will provide all members with the opportunity to learn,
grow, and participate in open lines of communication.
Activities include.

Meeting with all new member classes

Conducting periodic listening post opportunities for
people to discuss the joys and challenges of parish
life

Introduce staff and Council to the Congregation
-
Facilitate overall positive and clear communications
within the congregation
-
Make recommendations to council when appropriate
-
Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the feelings
of others.
Who
is on the Mutual Ministry Committee?
The Mutual Ministry Team includes both Pastor Chuck and
Pastor Kathy as well as Mike McNamara, Joy Blankenship,
Alice Treiber, Mike Thellman, Jim Horn, Becky Piper, and
Margie Taylor.
