Welcome to the Mutual Ministry.....

What is the Mutual Ministry Committee?

The Mutual Ministry Committee is a team of congregation members that meet to affirm the mission of the Congregation and the ministry of the staff at First Lutheran Church. They do this through sharing, listening, clarifying, communicating, reviewing and reflecting upon the issues facing the congregation.

What is the Role of Mutual Ministry?

  • Develop open communication within the congregation, the community, and the staff
  • Identify early warning signs of misunderstandings
  • Be a “listening post” for members of the congregation as well as the pastors and staff at First Lutheran
  • Serve as group where congregation members, pastors, and staff members can test out new ideas
  • Conduct annual performance reviews and affirmation of staff
  • Support continuing education that benefits both the staff and mission or the congregation.
  • Perform annual assessments of the working conditions, compensation, and benefits provided for the pastors and staff

How does Mutual Ministry do this?

We do this by implementing a communications plan that will provide all members with the opportunity to learn, grow, and participate in open lines of communication. Activities include.

  • Meeting with all new member classes
  • Conducting periodic listening post opportunities for people to discuss the joys and challenges of parish life
  • Introduce staff and Council to the Congregation
  • Facilitate overall positive and clear communications within the congregation
  • Make recommendations to council when appropriate
  • Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the feelings of others.

Who is on the Mutual Ministry Committee?

The Mutual Ministry Team includes both Pastor Chuck and Pastor Kathy as well as Mike McNamara, Joy Blankenship, Alice Treiber, Mike Thellman, Jim Horn, Becky Piper, and Margie Taylor.
