mission

Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”

John 20:21

Mission is an active ministry that looks to support those in our congregation, our communities, and throughout the world.  We enthusiastically share God's love and bring the Church outside our walls, providing communities and neighbors in need with support.
Mission strives to provide basic needs, volunteer efforts and support to organizations such as
Strongsville Food Bank
Front Line Services/Children Who Witness Violence
Greater Cleveland Habitat for Humanity
KIDS Hope USA
During the holidays we also partner with several community organizations to support to families in need through our Giving Tree and Holiday Food Baskets, by collecting and distributing food and gifts.

The support given to the Children Who Witness Violence Program/Trauma Department at Frontline Service is amazingly kind and generous. We cannot say enough about the impact that your food baskets have made over the years. In our programs we work with families affected by trauma induced by many different kinds of violence. We see them at a time in their lives when they are most vulnerable, and the kindness of your congregation allows them to not just receive help with food, but to also be reminded of the kindness and generosity of people within our community. The fulfillment of the most basic need of nourishment is often overlooked by many, however the First Lutheran Church of Strongsville understands that without this basic need, we cannot even begin to start helping with the process of overcoming trauma. During the holiday season when food baskets are available to the families being served within the Trauma Department this help you bring is so impactful, sometimes there are not enough words to express our and the family’s gratitude. As always, thank you all for thinking of us and sharing your light with our families and the community as a whole

Kids Hope USA is an amazing opportunity to help guide a child in a positive way and at the same time find great joy for both involved in the process. It has been an inspiring experience and a blessing for me to have mentored three children, so far. Seeing the vast differences in each child and seeking new ways to engage with the unique personalities and backgrounds has been a heart-warming, wonderful experience for me. ONE child, ONE hour, ONE church, ONE school. What could be more simple than that?
