Mission

Mission is an active ministry that looks beyond our congregation to support those in our community and in the world. Through our mission work, we spread the love of Jesus Christ by helping build water wells in foreign countries, feeding the hungry, giving hope to children, visiting the elderly, and more.

Here are a few ministry highlights:

The Christmas Sharing Tree has been a holiday tradition at First Lutheran Church for more than twenty-five years. The program encourages people in the congregation to purchase gifts for local, underprivileged children. These children are aged eighteen years and under. Some of them are from families who are members of the church and others are served by local charity organizations. The Sharing Tree reminds the congregation that there are those nearby who need help and this is a wonderful way to offer assistance. It is an especially good opportunity for children to participate as they can assist their parents in choosing gifts for others who may be less fortunate.

The Holiday Food Basket Drive starts with food and monetary donations, collected during Harvest season. The weeks before Thanksgiving and Christmas, volunteers from the congregation purchase perishable items to compliment donations, then pack baskets that are picked up and delivered to local shut ins and families in need.
